Cambodia!

Thinking we will just be wasting our precious time visiting Central Vietnam due to long hours being on the road, we agreed to give up taking a trip to Da Lat and Nha Trang and consider visiting Cambodia across the border instead.

 

The breathtaking Angkor Wat in the Siem Reap province, six hour drive 

from the country's capital of Phnom Pehn City

This Southeast Asian country is equally as exciting and historical as Vietnam, although its environment is still very laid back, historical significance of this country is so interesting and very worthy to explore. Just one out of the three remaining Kingdoms in Southeast Asia (Brunei is a Sultanate and cannot be considered a Kingdom as it is not ruled by a King), Cambodia offers an education delight of visiting its palaces, temple ruins, pagodas and Khmers remaining influence. The country's current monarch is King Norodom Sihamoni, who reigned in 2004 on the death of his father, King Norodom Sihanuok.

Angkor Wat, the country's famous historical landmark, is one of the world's magnificent sites that has been entered into UNESCO's World Heritage Site, it is located in Siem Reap province, just a six-hour drive from Cambodia's capital city, Phnom Pehn city. This landmark was used as the location setting of Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie.

Cambodia can be reached via Mekong Delta in Southern Vietnam through a ferry ride, crossing Mekong river from Chao Duc passing the sea that divides the two countries and docking at Cambodia's capital, Phnom Pehn city.
