Day Tour at Paradise Island Beach Resort in Samal Island, Davao
Happy to be able to spend the New Year celebration 2025 in Davao City after 12 years! Such a long time ago haha! I arrived in Davao from Manila on December 28, 2024, with my sister and brother, and our parents arrived from Surigao del Sur on the 29th.
My parents went home on the third of January but we remained in the city until January 6. On January 5, 2025, Sunday, we had a day trip to Paradise Island Beach Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal with our childhood friend, Evan Bajan. It's very accessible from Davao City, just a 10-minute boat ride from the Sasa wharf.
For many years that I lived in Davao and many times that I visited Samal Island, it was only my first time visiting Paradise Island haha! This was my least favorite beach resort in Davao before, don't know why, maybe because most of my friends back then never expressed interest in exploring Paradise Island.
So this month, finally visited this beach resort! My first impression was not "awe", I was not super impressed upon reaching the resort because the beachfront is filled with tables, and the area is super hot because of the huge roof.

Unlike most beach resorts that are open-air with a breezy outdoor atmosphere, Paradise Island has a covered beachfront with plenty of tables for dining. It's more like a beach restaurant than a relaxing beach resort.
But the environment is clean and well-maintained. The white sand is powdery and the water is crystal-clear. But corals are present in the area so you need to wear slippers when you go to the water. They also offer delicious food options and plenty of coolers to choose from. So if you are heading there to dine, you will appreciate the area, but not so much if you want to go swimming.

However, if you are staying overnight, you will love this beach resort. They have a sprawling garden at the back where cottages and room accommodations are located. It's a tropical surrounding and the pathways are breezy and relaxing. There's also an aviary in the garden area with exotic bird species are located.

My take on the resort: Not good for swimming, but an ideal dining destination. I also love the cottages/room accommodation area, it's so spacious, and breezy, and has a relaxing tropical vibe, so if you are looking for the nearest beach resort in Davao City for an overnight stay, Paradise Island is a fantastic place to go to. Just don't expect a terrific beach experience because it has no long coastline. The beachfront is not a good spot to do your relaxation moment because it's always crowded and there's no enough space to chill.

Here's how to get there for a day tour:
From Davao City, catch a jeepney ride for Sasa, and disembark at Km.9 Sasa, just tell the driver you are going to Paradise Island. It is easier if you hire a taxi because the driver will take you directly to the port.
The boat ride is just 10 minutes from the Sasa port. The boat fare is Php25.00. The entrance fee for the day tour is Php350.00. Boat ride schedule: 5:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon. So make sure to come back to the Pier before 4PM if you only have a day tour. There's no ticketing for the boat ride, you have to pay once you get on board the boat.
